Update (6/30/16, 10:00am): Well, it looks like the announcement was indeed imminent. BioShock: The Collection has been announced for release on September 13, 2016. The games have been visually remastered and will run at 1080p/60fps on PS4 and XB1. The remastered versions of BioShock and BioShock 2 will also be coming to PC with updated visuals.
All three games will include all of the single-player DLC packs as well as a commentary track from the series’ creative director, Ken Levine. For complete details, check out the announcement page on 2K’s website. If you’re just looking to catch a glimpse of the updated visuals, have a look at the announcement trailer below…
Original Post: Yesterday, the BioShock franchise got a couple of new teases, possibly hinting that a remastered collection could be coming soon. The first of these teases was a new Twitter account for the franchise with a single tweet:
— BioShock (@bioshock) June 29, 2016
While this tweet could mean anything with regards to the franchise, another piece of information popped up thanks to the sleuthing of NeoGAF user DeathSparks. This thread shows that a (now disabled) link on 2K’s website was directed towards a page for a game called BioShock The Collection.
In addition to the link to the game page, other users were able to pull screenshots from the remastered collection off of the site. While all of this has since been removed, it’s obvious that the collection is real and, given the amount of media loaded onto 2K.com, I’d expect to see a formal announcement in the coming days.
