This past weekend, thousands of Star Wars fans gathered in London to celebrate all things from a galaxy far far away. Among those were a handful of announcements and teases from EA about their upcoming Star Wars games. Here’s a look at some of the information that was teased about a couple of upcoming projects…
Star Wars Battlefront – Death Star & Rogue One DLC
It’s no surprise that Star Wars Battlefront had the most news to share, being in the middle of its season pass. What was a bit surprising was that both of the final DLC packs were teased at the celebration. The next content drop – you can see the trailer here – will take place at the Death Star and include Chewbacca and Bossk as playable heroes.
Meanwhile, we also learned that the final DLC pack for Battlefront will be related to the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Jyn Erso and Director Krennic will be the playable heroes for the Rogue One DLC pack releasing at the release of the film.
Visceral’s Star Wars Game (Amy Hennig)
Unfortunately, we didn’t get as much information about Amy Hennig’s much anticipated Star Wars game in development at Visceral Games. She did however take the stage to tell fans that her and the team are working to create a new Star Wars story set in the original trilogy era but focused on new characters. She also shared that the creative process for the game has been similar to that of Uncharted‘s. For the Uncharted series, the process was to dissect the Indiana Jones movies and other pulp adventures, integrating the films’ most important features into the gameplay. If Hennig’s strategy plays out as well for Star Wars as it did when she was creating Uncharted back at Naughty Dog, we’re in for a hell of a game.
What do you think of EA’s upcoming Star Wars games? Are you more excited for Visceral’s single-player experience or Battlefront’s implementations of the Death Star and Rogue One? Let us know in the comments!
